I am a profesor investigador in CIDE’s Division of International Affairs and a profesor de cátedra at the School of Social Sciences and Government at Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Mexico City campus.
My research examines how local institutions and other agents of socialization—including AI—shape political attitudes, particularly among religious, ethnic, and racial minorities and far-right and far-left voters.
I also investigate why the policymaking and implementation process succeeds or fails through the lens of public opinion research. My work finds that voters’ and street-level bureaucrats’ preconceived notions, along with information they receive from local agents of socialization and algorithmically curated news, shape policy outcomes in many cities and communities.
